Kira Linn is a German baritone saxophonist, singer, and composer. As a bandleader, she has played over 100 concerts and released three albums: «Nature» (2017) via Double Moon Records, «A Traveller's Tale» (2020) via Laika Records, and «Illusion» (2023) via the English label Whirlwind Recordings. In her music, she processes emotions and themes that have shaped her in recent years and continue to move her, including climate change, gender equality, and social inequality. Born in Wiesbaden, she has expanded her jazz cosmos into pop, indie, electro, and neo soul. Her fourth album, «Change», will be released in February 2027 on Whirlwind Recordings.
Alongside this, she leads the ten piece Large Ensemble «Her Wings», with which she sets poems by women and gender-diverse writers such as Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell, Sappho, and Emily Brontë to music. The album of the was released in summer 2026 on vinyl.
Linn has also played as a soloist with formations such as the German National Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, SWR Bigband and the Swiss Jazz Orchestra. She is also a permanent member of the Fuchsthone Orchestra, Francesca Gaza's Ensemble "Kügelförmigkeit" and the Salome Moana Band. In addition to Europe, her concert activities have also taken her to the USA, South Africa and South East Asia. 2024 her composition "Women to Sky" was nominated for a "German Jazz Price" in the category "best composition / arrangement". She has collaborated with Randy Brecker, Jorge Rossy and Domenic Landolf. Kira Linn studied Jazz Saxophone and Composition in Nuremberg and Basel. She currently lives and works in Cologne.
