"her wings" is the new large ensemble project by baritone saxophonist and composer Kira Linn. At the center of her compositions are poems by writers such as emily dickinson, amy lowell, and sappho, texts that are over a hundred years old, yet feel startlingly alive today. Kira linn gives them a new musical form, weaving jazz and improvisation together with singer-songwriter elements into a rich, multi-layered sound world.

The music moves fluidly between fully composed passages and improvisatory freedom, always leaving space for the individual voice of each musician to emerge. The result is both intimate and expansive, a collective sound shaped by ten distinct personalities.

With "her wings", Kira fulfills a long-held vision: to build an ensemble large enough to carry the full weight of these words, and intimate enough to let them breathe.
