Kira Linn was born 1993 and started playing tenor saxophone when she was 10 years old. 2008 she switched to the baritone Saxophone and played in the schools bigband where she gained a lot of experience in playing concerts and being part of competitions. Her main teachers were Michael Schlöder and the lead Alto Saxophone player of the Frankfurt Radio Bigband Heinz - Dieter Sauerborn. After the school Kira did a pre - study in Cologne with Andre Nendza. From 2013 till 2017 she studied Jazz Saxophone at the "Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg" with Klaus Graf, Steffen Schorn and Stefan Karl Schmid. Since 2018 Kira is doing her Masters with a focus on composition at the Jazzcampus in Basel, Switzerland. She is working with Guillermo Klein, Domenic Landolf and Mark Turner.


As a member of the "Landesjugendjazzorchster Hessen" Kira was part of a tour to South Africa and New York and a concert with Diane Reeves in August 2015. From 2018 until 2020 she was a member of the "Bundesjazzorchester", the national german youth jazz Bigband. The highlight of that band was a performance with Randy Brecker in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg in november 2018 and a concert tour in June and July 2019 to Tel Aviv, Berlin, New York, Rochester and Chicago.


Besides smaller engagements, she played regularly with the "Sunday Night Orchestra" from Nuremberg, the "Swiss Jazz Orchestra, subbed in the "Zurich Jazz Orchestra" and was honored to play with the "HR Bigband" (Frankfurt Radio Bigband). In 2016 she founded her own Sextett (Linntett). Kira is composing and arranging for her band, which released their first album in June 2017 with "Double Moon Records" in the "Jazzthing Next Generation" series and is releasing the second album in september with Laika Records. They are touring regularly and already played at the "Jazzclub Unterfahrt" in Munich, the "Jazzrally Düsseldorf" and the "Internationale Jazzwoche Burghausen".
